Gulbis qualifying 1st-round in Japan Open 2009
There was no his name in the qualify draw in rakuten Japan open.
But I had a dream in last December that Ernests Gulbis would played in Japan Open.
So I strongly felt that he would come.
And Miracle happened and he came!
When I reached to Ariake, the 1st match was still going.(Ernests was 2nd match)
Before I sat, I asked and confirmed a worker that Gulbis would play at the 2nd-match and there was no court-change then.
The first game was very interesting. It became a 3rd-set match.
The game was over. And I was very excited that finally I could see him! really him!!
But the singles pole removed and I realized the court change was happened already.
Oh no...I came here to watch Gulbis game with rejecting any obstructs.
I rushed into 4th court.
Already 7th game was over.
Qualify 1st round. VS MITSUHASHI.
MITSUHASHI is very small guy.
But he has enormous fighting spirit.
I knew later, Ernests had reached there only before 2 hours ago.
Maybe he couldn't plactice.
And I heard that the Ariake-court was unique.(Though it's hard)
So Ernests seemed to not fit the court at all.
Ernests was not aggressive though MITSUHASHI was very aggressive.
He swang his racket and it was too late, so ball was out or was caught by net.
His serve was better than other shot, but it was not good also.
When MITSUHASHI serve, the judge asked the ballboy to fix the score board, but MITSUHASHI didn't know and he hit his serve.
The point became the replay.
When another game also MITSUHASHI serve, the line judge called fault and it was very late call.
The main-judge didn't realize that, but Ernests insisted, and the point became second serve.
MITSUHASHI was very angry about that.
And Ernests was irritated too.
The Ariake-court after the rain was very slippery.
Ernests slipped and fell when he tried to catch the distant ball to his left,
Fortunately he didn't suffer any injury.
Ernets won 6-2, 6-3.
But he wasn't satisfied with his play at all.
